] >> good afternoon. >> good afternoon. i am substituting today for dan murphy, who has been ill for a while and we thought we better get these recommendations to you as quickly as we could. i am presenting recommendations. we came up with at our october and december meetings of last year. the first two concern church street and transit improvements there. the mta cac recommends that both the church street transit-only lane and the 76x marin express pilot projects proceed as presented. the cac requests that staff report back to the mta cac quarterly on their findings and at the end of the pilot project. cac recommends that the tep staff use other appropriate tools on the church street project including transit preferential significants and recommends that the agency take into account all modes flowing through the dubois/church intersection whether or not through signage or signals. the next recommendation, cac recommends that the agency report back on the possibility of selecting a low-income community as a destination for a second run of the 76x marin headlands express. the next
4's dan kerman joins us now with more on this. >> reporter: the woman who passed away, was 98 years old and died clara county. in addition to the flu she also suffered from a variety of other illnesses including pneumonia. public health officials say this should serve as a reminder that people should get a flu shot. this is especially important because the flu season has not yet peeked in california. in fact it may not peek until february or early march. >> we are in the middle of flu season it could get worse before it gets better. there are other things that could happen. we must stay hydrated. keep our hands washed anybody over six months of age, the youngest, the oldest, and higher risk individuals. >> pam: how well does this current strains of flu a match with the vaccine that is available? we asked that same question and he says the this is a very good match. you never know what quite match is coming out but this should help knock it out. remember, it takes a couple of weeks for it to get into your system. waiting would be a problem. >> pam: our team coverage continues. even w

dan kerman is here to explain. >> when the economy outwith the economy in the dolldrums three years ago, congress created the payroll tax holiday, which cut the payroll tax from 6.2% to 4.2%.for 2011 and 2012. meaning more money in your paycheck to spend to help get the economy going. well that so called holiday expired at the end of last year. meaning your payroll tax goes back up 2% meaning less take home pay. here's what it means. households making between 40 and 50 thousand dollars will see 579 dollars less this year. those making between 50 and 75 thousand dollars will see about 822 dollars less this year. those making between 75 and 100 thousand dollars will pay 1,206 more in tax, or 100-dollars a month the big question is, will this impact the economy? since consumers have less in their paycheck each week, even if it's 25$ a week, will they spend less? some forecasters say definitely. others say we've paid this rate for years and this 2-percent will have little impact over the long term. especially when you consider that middle class tax rates are not going up. >> pam: now th
